LADWP Electricity Rates

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) is the largest municipal utility in the United States, serving over four million residents in Los Angeles, California. The utility provides electricity, water, and wastewater services to its customers. LADWP operates 14 hydroelectric plants, four natural gas-fired power plants, and one coal-fired power plant, generating a total capacity of 7,553 MW of electricity. The utility also operates one of the largest solar power programs in the country, with over 300 MW of capacity. LADWP is committed to sustainability, with a goal to achieve 100% renewable energy by 2045. Additionally, the utility offers a range of energy efficiency programs to its customers to help reduce energy consumption and save money on their bills.

LADWP's energy comes from natural gas, solar, other fossil, hydroelectric, wind, and biomass. Natural Gas is the largest source of electricity, providing 70% of LADWP's energy. After 12-month cycle, customer may opt to roll over credit indefinitely or to receive payment for credit at a rate equal to the 12-month average spot market price for the hours of 7 am to 5 pm for the year in which the surplus power was generated.
